Asthma Society Host Asthma Information Day Dundalk September 12th

The Asthma Society of Ireland is holding an Asthma Information Day in Dundalk, County Louth, on Sunday the 12th of September. The event, which takes place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Green Park, Inner Relief Road, Dundalk from 12 noon to 4pm, will give asthma sufferers in the region the opportunity to speak directly with an asthma nurse on all aspects of their asthma management and symptoms.

There will be nurses on hand at the event to speak with attendees about asthma in children, allergies, asthma management and inhaler technique, as well as peak flow monitoring and spirometry testing. There will also be talks from guest speakers on asthma management and childhood asthma. There is no admission fee and all services and information are provided completely free of charge.

The Dundalk Asthma Information Day is the third in a series of regional information events that the Asthma Society is holding throughout 2010.

Dr Jean Holohan, CEO, of the Asthma Society said "Nearly 60% of asthma sufferers in Ireland do not have their asthma under control. As part of a strategic plan to tackle this problem, which includes our Asthma Helpline and the Asthma Demonstration Project, we are holding a number of Regional Asthma Information Days to provide the public with the most up to date information on asthma and asthma care. This is an excellent opportunity for people with asthma or parents of children with asthma to speak directly with an asthma nurse, learn more about their own asthma management and avail of a variety of services free of charge."
